Founder’s story
Tech in Yoruba (TIYC)
A community that helps people learn tech skills in Yoruba language — founded by Theophilus Adegbohungbe. The official community website is techinyoruba.org.
Why I started it
Tech in Yoruba (TIYC) exists so language is never the barrier between people and technology. We teach, mentor, and gather community so more people can learn digital skills in a language that feels like home.
Why it matters
When learners hear concepts in Yoruba, confidence grows. Intimidation drops. Opportunity widens. That is the heart of this work — and why it connects so closely with WordPress Yoruba localization and local meetup organizing.
This site vs the community site
This personal website is my professional home as founder. For programs, learning updates, and the TIYC community itself, visit the official Tech in Yoruba website.
Featured by the BBC — the story of mother-tongue tech education is reaching a wider audience, and we’re just getting started.
